1 - Le rooftop de l’hôtel William Vale à Brooklyn
Son accès est gratuit mais les consommations sont obligatoires et elles ne sont pas données ! Néanmoins vous aurez une superbe vue sur tout Manhattan depuis Brooklyn. Allez-y juste avant le coucher de soleil.
2 - New York Public Library
C’est la grande bibliothèque de New York, qui a servi de nombreuses fois comme décor de film, avec ses boiseries et ses lampes de bureau vertes typiques. L’entrée est libre d’accès à condition de respecter le silence qui y règne.
3 - Le Moma Museum of Modern Art
L’entrée y est gratuite tous les vendredis entre 16h et 20h. Par contre, attendez-vous à ce qu’il y ait beaucoup de monde, pour l’éviter allez y plutôt à partir de 18h.
4 - Le parc de East River State Park à Brooklyn
Ce parc fait face à Manhattan, au bord de la baie de New York, et offre un très beau spectacle lors du coucher de soleil.
5 - Le rooftop du MET prés de Central Park
L’accès est gratuit vous n’avez pas besoin de payer l’entrée du musée, et vous y aurez une très belle vue sur Central Park. Le bâtiment n’est pas très grand alors ne vous imaginez pas avoir la même vue qu’à l’Empire State Building.
6 - Le Botanical Garden de Brooklyn
L’entrée y est gratuite tous les vendredis de 9h à 12h. Je vous conseille de profiter de ce créneau pour y aller car je trouve que ça ne vaut pas de payer 15$, surtout si vous n’y allez pas au printemps.
7 Staten Island Ferry Terminal
C’est une liaison gratuite qui relie Downtown à l’île de Staten et qui permet d’observer plutôt bien la Statue de la Liberté.
8 National Museum of the American Indian
Le musée sur l’histoire amérindienne se trouve dans un bâtiment incroyable et son entrée est gratuite tous les jours.
9 The New York Botanical Garden
Le jardin botanique de New York se trouve à côté du zoo, dans le Bronx. L’accès au jardin est gratuit tous les mercredis et samedi entre 9h et 10h.
10 Les vues depuis les ponts Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge ou Williamsburg Bridge
Toutes ces vues sont également à couper le souffle et c’est gratuit bien sûr. Je vous conseille de les traverser dans le sens Brooklyn à Manhattan.
A savoir : Certains musées appliquent le tarif « as you wish », c’est-à-dire que vous payez ce que vous souhaitez. Ce tarif a été mis en place pour permettre aux plus démunis d’accéder à la culture et non aux touristes qui ont clairement les moyens de payer une entrée classique. Dû à un abus des touristes certains musées ont supprimé ce tarif, ce qui est bien dommage. Si vous tombez sur ce type de tarif je vous conseille de mettre au minimum 10$.
